Pupils will work as part of the Young People’s Research Advisory Groups (YPRAGs) and will act as advisers to the project on all aspects of school exclusion. Focusing specifically on "Excluded Lives: The Political Economies of School Exclusion and their Consequences".
Research Summary
Little is known, from the perspective of children and
young people and their families, about the processes leading up to exclusion
from the classroom or school or the processes that follow, in particular the
decisions that are taken to ensure that children and young people receive an
education outside of mainstream schooling or that they make the transition back
to formal education. This research project will undertake an analysis of this. The findings will be reported as part of the UK's progress for the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child which will be published in 2021.
